Imagine Durban profiles sustainable assets in ward 99 onto the eThekwini Green Map

Championing inclusive participation in sustainable community development, Imagine Durban team lead yet another green map community asset mapping workshop with Ward Committee Members of Magabheni, ward 99 south of Durban. The Ward Committee Members participated in a two day workshop where they were capacitated on community asset mapping. The aim behind these workshops was to identify sustainable initiatives that exist in the Magabheni area, map them on the eThekwini Green Map and then share it with fellow citizens within the Municipality and the world.

  1. Imagine Durban, as part of their Open Forum series, will co-host a public discussion on climate change with the Democracy Development Programme. Join us to find out more about climate change, climate justice and the prospects for the 2011 negotiations.
  2. The Municipal Institute for Learning (MILE), a municipal knowledge sharing institute of the eThekwini Municipality, will co-host a two-day master class for scientists, politicians and officials in the days prior to the convention. The master class will take place on 23-24 September 2011.
  3. Imagine Durban would like to thank all those who exhibited and participated at this year’s Sustainable Living Exhibition on 2-4 September 2011. It could not have been such a success without your support!
  4. The South African Government, through the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), South African Cities Network (SACN) and eThekwini Municipality, have partnered with ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability in hosting a convention on climate change adaptation. Taking place 25-27 September 2011, the convention will be in preparation for the United Nations climate negotiations taking place later this year in Durban.
