Remuneration
R8000.00 pm incl.
Duties
The job entails the supervision of field rangers and the management of conservation-related activities in the Giba Gorge Area, Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal. Duties will include:
- Drawing up of patrol schedules and coordination of field rangers with regards to this function.
- This will include weekly report-backs to GGEP committee members.
- Management of alien invasive plant control according to guidelines as stipulated in the GGEP management plan.
- Management of grassland fire programme, including cutting and burning of firebreaks and block burns, according to guidelines as stipulated in the GGEP management plan.
- Implementation of measures to prevent soil erosion.
- Implementation of infrastructure development and maintenance, including trails, solid waste management, general amenity maintenance.
- Provide leadership support to monitoring and educational programmes in the GGEP.
- Pollution control and mitigation, especially related to aquatic systems, i.e. rivers and wetlands.
- Other conservation management duties as may be required by the GGEP Working Committee.
