The Imagine Durban Project is pleased to announce a call for
demonstration projects proposal in the category of enhancing livelihoods of people involved in informal recycling. The total allocation to this
category is R100,000.
Informal recyclers provide
an import service to society by improving recycling rates and so reducing
waste to landfill sites and thereby lengthening the life span of landfills.
The purpose of this project category is to test an innovative idea that
could enhance the livelihoods of people involved in informal recycling.
Examples of possible projects include:
1. The development of an improved
transport method for recyclable material
2. The facilitation of a relationship
between informal recyclers and a community or group of businesses that
improves the collection rate of informal recyclers.
3. A project that enhances the
status of informal recyclers so that there service to society is recognised
and supported by businesses and community.

Enhancing safety and accessibility of a public open space - Call for project proposals |

The Imagine Durban Project
is pleased to announce a call for demonstration projects proposal in the category of safety and accesibility of public open space. The total allocation to this category is R100,000.
Public open space provides
important opportunities for a range of recreational, economic and social
activities. However public open spaces can also be places were
crime is committed and people feel unsafe. The purpose
of this project category is to provide an opportunity to test an innovative
idea that can act as a model for enhancing the safety and recreational
accessibility of public open space in the eThekwini Municipality.
Examples of possible projects include:
1. Reconceptualising a public
open space so that it serves a purpose for the local community and as
a result use, activity and safety improves.
2. Facilitation of a partnership
between government and the local community that improves the maintenance
of a public open space in a way that enhances safety and accessibility.

is pleased to announce a call for demonstration projects proposal in the category of schools and food security. The total allocation is R100,000.
Food Security has become an
increasingly important issue both globally and within South Africa.
Nationally many government departments and non-government organisations
have taken up this issue through the promotion of numerous food gardening
projects. One area where there has been particular focus
is on the promotion of food gardening projects within schools.
The purpose of the project category is to provide an opportunity to
implement a project that will show case long term sustainability in
schools food security or to test an innovative approach to schools food
security.
